Blue lagoon and more!

Over the last few days we've been to the blue lagoon and done the golden circle: þingvellir national park, geysir and gulfoss waterfall. It's been 2 days of excellent sights and the cherry on the cake is that at the blue lagoon I met the actors who play Arya and Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones. As a fan it was an excellent moment!

Borgarnes

Today we travelled to the lovely coastal town of Borgarnes. We didn't do much apart from sightsee, but there were some amazing views. Blue skies and warm weather didn't harm the day either!

Travel update

Due to time constraints we won't be golden circling, we're going over backup plans but we will still be traveling outside reykjavik so pictures should still be impressive!

Some pictures from yesterday!

So we have some white-beaked dolphin shots (pictures 1 + 3) and a minke whale shot (picture 2). Then shots of leif the lucky standing guard outside Hallgrímskirkja. Inside the church is the amazing organ and lastly a fantastic view from the top of the church tower.

Travel update

So yesterday we took a whale watching tour from Reykjavik (which was a huge success, there were White-Beaked dolphins aplenty and many minke whales).

We later went to Hallgrímskirkja, the very large church which at the top provided some excellent views over Reykjavik.

Today should prove to be a brilliant photo opportunity, we are doing the 'Golden Circle' of sights. This includes the Þingvellir national park, the waterfall Gullfoss (the largest waterfall in Iceland) and the Geysir. Geysir is known for being the original geyser which all geysers were named after.

Nightlife

Just after having a look around some of the cafés and bars and this one peaked my interest. I am a massive fan of tarantino and pulp fiction so this looks perfect!

Here's a couple of pics from today, the plaque in the last picture states that 'Nothing interesting has ever happened here'. I appreciated the joke.

Arrival

Well I've arrived! I will be spending a week holidaying in Reykjavik before I start my placement and the work with the whales begins. Though I will be going whale watching tomorrow so there will be a taste!

10 days!

Apologies for not posting recently, nothing of particular interest has occurred aside from purchasing a lot of very warm clothing.
But it is only 10 days until this story reaches it's true beginning!
