So after the bumper February of Humpback whales doing amazing things and some incredible Northern Lights it would always have been hard for March to top it.
While it hasn't been as incredible it has provided something very different, we have had so many dolphins! And due to a lot of fish that has been coming to the surface of the water we've had the pleasure of seeing dolphins performing many feeding activities, they've been jumping every way possible! And even reaching groups of over 100 individuals!
They've proved what many people don't believe, that on a tour with both whales and dolphins the smaller species can be the more spectacular and enjoyable species!
We've had an awful lot of rain and snow recently so my use of the camera has been limited as I serve to protect the cameras from the elements, but I can show you what I did manage to snap!

Some pretty exciting waves on this tour. Those poor people at the front get soaked in a minute. |
The camera I was using on this tour only had a small, wide angle lens so my pictures won't be very close. |
But you can still see cool things! |
These dolphins were jumping almost at the same time for quite a while. |
The birds and dolphins were often using each other to help feed. |
The birds were going nuts for the fish, in this picture and the one above you can actually see the fish under the surface. The dark patch in the water is a massive group of Capelin, their prey on this day. |
This is from a different tour and it's not a great picture but you can really see the horrible scar along its neck behind the blowhole. This is likely caused by it being caught in a fishing net and with such a bad wound it's lucky this whale survived. This highlight long persisting problems with whales and fishermen both sharing the same areas. |
Thanks for reading!
